Living with anxiety can be challenging, especially if you don’t realize it’s there. For a long time, I believed my anxiety wasn’t as bad as it was and that everyone had similar thoughts. It wasn’t until my husband suggested marriage therapy that I began to realize how much my anxiety was affecting my life.
At that point in our relationship, I was unable to do things alone because the panic would set in, and I had no idea how to cope with it. I forced my husband to be with me 24/7, and if he went somewhere alone, I would become angry and irritable for days. It was evident that my anxiety was controlling my life.
During our first therapy session, our therapist recognized that our marriage was strong, but my anxiety was taking over. She suggested continuing our marriage sessions but also adding personal sessions for me. At first, I just wanted to cure my anxiety and move on with my life, but our therapist explained that there is no cure for anxiety, just ways to manage it.
Learning to manage anxiety takes time, effort, and patience. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and what works for one person may not work for another. However, I have learned that with the right tools, I can manage my anxiety and live a full life.
Some days are easier than others, but I know that I am not alone in my struggles. Asking for help can be scary, but it is worth it. If you are struggling with anxiety, know that you are not alone and there is help available. Take the first step and reach out for support. Together, we can learn to manage our anxiety and live the life we deserve.
Please remember, you are never alone.
